Sophie Turner in 2016: A Year in Review

Today is the last day of 2016, and within a few hours, wherever you are in the world, we will be entering 2017. Sophie has been incredibly busy this year, promoting the sixth season of “Game of Thrones” and “X-Men: Apocalypse”. As the year is ending, I thought it would be great to go over everything our girl has been up to these 12 last months. Click on ‘Continue Reading’ below to read the whole review post.

Sophie started the year of 2016 by publicly attending Entertainment Weekly’s Celebration Honoring The Screen Actors Guild Awards Nominees on January 29, followed the next day by the 22nd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, wearing a gorgeous Carolina Herrera black gown. During the month of February, the first trailer for “Game of Thrones”‘ sixth season was released (x). Following the release of the trailer, the first promotional stills for the first episode were unveiled by HBO, as well as 16 new character posters (x). At the end of February was also released Sophie’s first photoshoot of the year, for Vogue Magazine.

On February 28, Sophie attended the 88th Annual Academy Awards in Hollywood wearing a gorgeous Galvan sustainable gown. The ceremony was followed by the 2016 Vanity Fair Oscar Party later that night. In March, Sophie attended the Louis Vuitton Show as part of the Paris Fashion Week Womenswear Fall/Winter 2016/2017, as well as the Huading Awards. The first official poster of “X-Men: Apocalypse” was also revealed (x).

Later that month, Entertainment Weekly revealed a gorgeous “Game of Thrones” cover, thus revealing a new photoshoot of Sophie, in character. As for the photoshoots, March was a prolific month as we were blessed with shots of Sophie for Vanity Fair & Marie Claire UK. In April, Sophie attended the “Game Of Thrones” Season 6 Premiere in Hollywood.

On April 11, Sophie attended the “Game Of Thrones” Season 6 Press Conference. On April 25, the first episode of the sixth season of “Game of Thrones”, entitled ‘The Red Woman’, aired on HBO. Three new photoshoots were also released – Sophie was photographed for The Edit, GQ Magazine & Nylon Magazine.

In May, Sophie was busy promoting “X-Men: Apocalypse”. On the 9th, she attended the London premiere, followed by promotion in Beijing. On May 10, Sophie was the guest of ‘This Morning’ (x) and on the 29th, she attended the Audi Polo Challenge Day Two (x). On June 5, Sophie was at the BBC Radio 2 Studios in London (x). It was also announced that Sophie would star in “Berlin: I Love You”, alongside Jack Huston.

In June, Sophie attended the Glamour Women Of The Year Awards and promoted “Game of Thrones” in Madrid, Spain. On July 3, Sophie flew to Paris to attend the Miu Miu Fashion Show during Paris Fashion Week. On July 7, she attended the Wimbledon Tennis Championships with her dad (x).

In July, Sophie was at the annual International San Diego Comic Con to promote “Game of Thrones”, which was renewed for a seventh season (more photos here & here). On August 16, Sophie attended Variety’s ‘Power Of Young Hollywood’ Event and in September, she was at the 73rd Venice Film Festival. She attended the Kineo Diamanti Award Press Conference (x) & the ‘Hacksaw Ridge’ Premiere. It was also announced that Sophie had joined the Indie Drama “Huntsville” and that “Game of Thrones” will end after its eighth season.

On September 18, Sophie attended the 68th Primetime Emmy Awards in support of “Game of Thrones” which was nominated in many categories. In October, she attended Louis Vuitton Fashion Show, which was part of the Paris Fashion Week Womenswear Spring/Summer 2017 and in December, she attended the Sky Women In Film & TV Awards in London. To finish off such an amazing and wonderful year, Sophie was photographed for The Wrap Magazine. It was also announced Sophie would partner up with MGI Entertainment for a brand new line of products (x).


And that’s a wrap! But what’s next for Sophie next year? In 2017, Sophie will be back in “Game of Thrones” as Sansa Stark for its seventh season. She will also star in “Berlin, I Love You”, “Alone” and “Huntsville”. Busy 2017!
